Description
The Glenturret Peated Edition exclusively combines both their unpeated style of Glenturret spirit with their heavily peated style of spirit known as Ruadh Maor. This expression delivers definitive smoke and light spice aromas before developing into an array of maturing fruit and smouldering peat flavours on the palate. This edition is crafted in small batches at Scotland’s Oldest Working Distillery with less than 60 casks hand selected to create this unique dram per batch. This exclusive bottling sublimely incorporates smokey and sweet together in a rare addition to the Glenturret range of Scotch whiskies.
Tasting Notes by The Glenturret’s Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno:
Appearance: Pale Lemon Gold Aroma: Peat smoke entwined with thick citrus fruits. A layered whisky which teases the nose on all levels. A definite smoke note that drifts in intensity to show toasting from the cask yet the richness of burning peat in an open fire. The resident toffee apple is playful yet respectful. Clean oak runs almost parallel throughout but is understated. Some vanilla and light spices appear almost late
Taste: Sweet and spice, vanilla is thicker yet works well with maturing fruits, akin to a bowl of fruit. Ginger flits in and out, almost in a bed of peat. The peat is subtle initially but develops depth with a hint of smokiness. The oak itself is very soft reminding us of the importance of the distillery spirit and the peating importance
Finish: Mouth coating, soft and smokey
